We are all in this together

Why Start Now?

And why start with START?

Firstly, we’re proud to be the only organisation in Aotearoa dedicated to providing therapy and support to people of all ages who stutter, as well as to their families and whānau.

Our team is made up of specialist speech-language therapists and a social worker, all dedicated to helping and supporting people who stutter.

Established in 1993, we’ve had over 30 years’ experience and we’ve had the privilege of working with over 3,000 people who stutter.

As a charitable trust this is why we exist.

We offer a flexible range of services – including advice, guidance and support, individual therapy sessions, a range of groups/courses and social support.

We want to get to know you, your story, your wins and your challenges and look forward to supporting you in your stuttering journey.

Finally, our research and collaboration with universities both in Aotearoa and abroad, make START a centre of excellence and cutting-edge knowledge.

We’re here for you. And also there and everywhere.

We’re working hard to raise awareness and understanding of stuttering in Aotearoa. Wherever you’re based, we’ll endeavour to provide you with access to a community of support, for both you and your whānau.

Whether you prefer in-person sessions at our clinic in Greenlane, Auckland, or virtual sessions via Zoom from anywhere in Aotearoa, we’re here to help and support you – as long as you have an internet connection.

Cost of Sessions

(and keeping rates low)

Affordable rates mean accessibility for everyone

As a charitable trust, we’re committed to ensuring that our sessions and other services are available to all – that’s why we keep our rates as affordable as we possibly can.

Our standard charge is $75 per session with a reduced rate of $55 for Community Service Card holders, tertiary students and senior citizens. However, if the cost is an issue for you, please get in touch – we want you and/or your child to receive the support you need without undue financial strain.

Supporting our mission through your generosity

Although we charge fees for our sessions, all our services are heavily subsidised through the dedicated efforts of the START team and Board, who work tirelessly to raise funds.

If you’re in a position where you can contribute more than the standard fees, we’d be incredibly grateful for your support. Alternatively, you can make a donation to START in addition to your fee. It’s worth noting that you may be eligible to claim a rebate from Inland Revenue for your donation.

Your generosity helps us continue providing support to those who need it.

Continue your Journey…
